Kauai Part 2

We drove through Waimea canyon, it was a rather long and winding drive, with a little bit of carsickness and whining but the canyon was beautiful. I would have liked to do a little more hiking in here but the kids were more interested in getting to the beach. We got to the last lookout, the one I was most anxious to see out over the Na Pali coast, right as the clouds were rolling in and completely blocked our view. From the little peeks here and there it looked incredible. We found a nice picnic spot and drank our daily dose of Hawaiian soda and chased roosters.

We headed over to Salt Pond beach and loved it. It had a natural reef creating a safe little lagoon to swim and snorkel in and it had the perfect waves for boogie boarding. And the best part is, when it's raining in the northern part of the island you can usually find sunshine down here. It was so nice to finally see the sun and have the Hawaiian beach vacation we had been dreaming of!

We spent hours at the beach then headed out to dinner at Bubbas. We grabbed our daily shaved ice and ate it at Poipu beach while we witnessed to the most beautiful sunset. Perfect ending to a perfect day.
