Memorial Weekend

We wanted to explore a new lake for Memorial weekend so we headed to Bartlett lake to go camping. It was everything a family weekend camping at the lake should be. Equal parts perfect and equal parts hilarious, memorable and a little less than perfect. We got there in the late afternoon and cruised around until we found the perfect secluded camp spot. We had to anchor the boat and walk to the shore because it was too shallow. Kylie didn't like the feel of the mud so she paid Jayden in soda cans to carry her back and forth. There was a big hill and we had the boogie boards so the kids were excited to go sand boarding. The only problem was that it was more like gravel boarding. We all laughed so hard at the failed attempts and poor Jayden walked away with some battle scars. Somewhere along the way Maddox and Ryder decided to turn our site into a nudist colony and walked around buck naked. Maddox also took it upon himself to dig a personal toilet for everyone to use. Bless him. We roasted marshmallows, and starbursts, while the sun set over the water. We laid in the tent with the windows open while Jayden pointed out all the star constellations. It was pretty impressive, the big dipper is the only one I have ever been able to recognize. That night I woke up to rustling sounds outside our tent. In my delirious state I thought it was Jayden so I poked my head out and yelled at Jayden to come to bed. It woke Kylie up and she realized it was an animal. I thought it was raccoons and was about to throw rocks at them when Kylie looked closer and realized they were skunks. That could have definitely ended badly. We woke Jason up and he took care of it by moving the trash bags, but not before first farting at them and claiming our territory. We didn't get much sleep that night and were up with the sun to enjoy the first run of the day. I finally took my turn wake surfing, Maddox worked on his jumps and Jayden had a fish bite him on his nipple when he was in the water. Of course we had to tease him all day that he breastfed a fish. It was an eventful day. Things became even more eventful when we were loading the boat onto the trailer and I look up to see a boat without a driver heading our way and hitting into us. Some guy got in his boat to back it off his trailer, left it in gear then got out to move his truck, sometimes you've got to wonder about common sense! Thankfully no one was hurt, it definitely could have been worse. There was some damage done to the trailer but he took care of the repairs. Love spending time with our family and the memories made on the lake, the good, the bad and the hilarous!

Scottsdale Birthday Weekend

I wanted to do something special for Kylie's sweet sixteen so we decided to do a girl's weekend in Scottsdale with a few friends and it was so much fun! We ate, shopped, swam, took lots of pictures and made some great memories. Scottsdale has a hipster meets western vibe and their food scene is on point. We ate our way through the town hitting Diego Pops, Super Chunk and the Sugar Bowl. We stayed at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort where they upgraded us to a villa. Which meant we had our own little patio to eat our pizza dinner on and it also meant that I didn't have to sleep on the floor. They had fun swimming until the sleazy older guy started hitting on them. They kept getting cat calls all weekend long when they were walking around, it was a good thing I was there to keep those boys away! I just loved hearing them giggle all night long and am grateful for the great friends she has made this year. Happy Sweet 16 Kylie!

They decided they need to start a band and this should be their cover
