Worth the wait

I was bummed when we had to postpone this trip back in December, but it was well worth the wait and made for the perfect Valentine's getaway.  We watched the sunrise on our 5 am flight as we geared up for a fun, cold, relaxing and romantic weekend.

Here's our first and only attempt at instagram.  I think we need to re-download the app, it stopped working after this shot.

It's been 9 years since we've been boarding together, just the two of us.  We went to our old stomping grounds, the Canyons. It's changed alot and I was a big fan of the bubble lift with heated seats to warm your buns.

Okay, so I have to confess.  When Jason planned this trip I was secretly more excited about sleeping in and shopping at the outlets than I was about snowboarding.  That's before I met my new board.  I've been using Jason's old board and I didn't realize what a difference this new one would make.  I became one with that mountain and for the first time really loved boarding.  I could have stayed on the slopes till the sun went down, or atleast until 2 pm, then I was done with the cold and ready for the hot tub.  I loved snuggling on the ski lift, I loved that Jason didn't mind taking it slow even though he could have boarded circles around me, I loved how cute Jason looked when he flew down the mountain, I just loved having Jason and his undivided attention all to myself all day long.

We (mostly me) wanted to find the perfect romantic restraunt in Park City for dinner that night.  We searched on-line, we read reviews and we found the perfect Italian restraunt.  Well, it would have been perfect, except that they forgot to mention that they hadn't opened yet.  We ended up at the same pizza joint that we've been going to since our dating days.  It wasn't the white table cloth and candlelight atmposphere I was hoping for, but it was nastalgic and it was perfect.  I had visions of spending the evening hand in hand strolling through the shops on Main Street, but it was teeth chattering cold and I forgot how all the shops there are pretty lame, so after dinner we headed back to the long awaited steaming hot tub. Ahhhhhh.  We tried watching a movie afterwards but I fell asleep before the previews were even over.

Just when I thought it couldn't get better, it did.  Oh how I love the Park City outlets.  Jason couldn't complain too much especially when he looked so cute in his new hoodie.

Then Jason was cute and planned lunch at the Joseph Smith Memorial building Garden restraunt.  I've never been there and loved the view, but more importantly loved their foccacia bread and roasted tomato soup.

We walked around Temple Square like love sick newleyweds and reminisced about how much has changed since Jason's days of working at the Church Office building, before heading back to Phoenix, the heat and our cute kids.  I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend.  I forget how nice it is to have Jason all to myself with no distractions.  He was such a romantic gentleman and catered to me the entire time, I felt so spoiled.  I love my Valentine. (a HUGE thank you to my friend, Melissa who was so nice to watch the kids and make this little trip possible!)

Lucky! What a fun and romantic getaway. You two are so cute and I'm glad you got that one on one time. It's hard to share a husband with work and kids and church callings. You totally need that together time. Glad you enjoyed it. Happy V-day to one of my favorite couples:)
