Manly Man Camping

The boys had enough of the sissy backyard camping, so they defended their masculinity by heading up to the mountains and braving the 30 degree weather for their first annual father and sons campout with the ward. Okay, so maybe they did wimp out a little and slept in the back of the pilot instead of the tent, but they get kudos for resisting the urge to turn the heat on in the middle of the night. According to Jason, Jayden loved every minute of it and judging by the huge smile on his face, I think that's a pretty accurate description. I guess he spent the majority of the time running around with the other boys getting nice and dirty, but stopped occasionally for some food. When I asked Jason if he had fun, the first thing he said was that the food was amazing--homemade donuts, breakfast burritos....it sounds like these boys are putting the relief society and their casseroles to shame with their hidden culinary talents. Jayden also loved the fire and the fishing and even sat through the fireside that night. When I asked Jayden if he missed me, he responded, "no, I was too busy". I'm glad they had such a fun time doing some good old fashioned male bonding. Kylie and I had fun taking advantage of some girl time. I let her play hookie from school on Friday (okay, she really was sick with a cold but was doing better that afternoon so we took advantage of having the day off) and we did a 7 hour shopping marathon. Jayden and Jason joined us for one store at the mall before heading off on their camping trip and it's amazing what a difference it is shopping with a 3 yr old compared to an almost 6 yr old. I was pulling my hair out with Jayden, but with Kylie it was actually enjoyable. We had fun getting her some cute summer clothes, grabbing some ice-cream and shopping our little hearts out. The poor girl was exhausted and finally fell asleep in the shopping cart while I was doing some grocery shopping. That night we went to a picnic at her school then came home for some fingernail painting and a movie party. She had a sleepover in my room that night and it was so nice sleeping in the next morning before going to lunch together. It was definitely a fun manly man and girly girl weekend!

The End.

Thank you for solving the mystery...Jer has been raving about some "yummy cinnamon dough thingy" and he kept calling it fry bread or a scone, I wasn't convinced! Thank you! I am so jealous you got pics, I forgot to send the camera with Jer, but felt a huge sense of relief when I remembered that his new phone takes pictures almost better than my camera, well, he still forgot to take even ONE!!!!! I was so sad!! 7 hours of shopping, holy cow! that was hard for me to do, I can't imagine a little tyke hanging in there that long! Go Kylie!

What a fun weekend! I love the huge grin that Jayden has in every single picture. You can tell he was in heaven. I am very impressed with their menu. Sounds yummy. Wow, seven hours of shopping! Kylie must have some natural shopping talent in her blood. You are such a fun mom! We are very jealous that you are shopping for summer clothes all ready. We still haven't put up our winter coats. Although it's supposed to be in the upper 60's this week. We may just skip the jackets and go straight to t-shirts. I know, you Arizonians would be freezing :) I love your "the end" picture. It seems like such a mom thing to take a picture like that. I'm impressed Jason got it! Way to go, Jay!

What fun. I am just getting ready to post about the campout also. I think most everyone there must have had a blast. Josh came home talking about the food also, and said that it was just a free for all with the boys. They just ran around and had a great time. We did girls night over here also. That is good quality time with mom and daughter. But 7 hours?/? I'm not sure I could handle that.

PS. Nice job on your talk yesterday. I enjoyed it.

HA! I love it! Props to Jason for the sweet pictures. Jayden is adorable and looks like he had SO much fun bonding with daddy.
I love shopping with Madison, it is so fun to be able to have her get into it with me. I know we won't be saying that in a few years so we better enjoy it now. I just went shopping with my MIL and teenage SIL and my MIL was pulling her hair out in frustration. =)

That is such a boy picture of Jayden peeing in the woods. My boys are crazy about peeing outside, it is such a treat for them. I am embarassed to say I caught my boys peeing in our backyard yesterday...keep it in the woods boys!

Cute, cute, cute! I think that our Ward Fathers and Sons campout is in a few weeks. I hope Mat and Kade have just as much fun. Jayden is so cute with that huge smile on his face in every picture.
