Wake up call

Maddox seems to think that it is his duty to wake everybody up in the mornings and so far we've had no complaints yet. Who wouldn't want to get woken up by this cute little man crawling all over you, giving you lots of "soft loves", snuggles and wet kisses? Even Jayden who has a very strict "no slobber" policy can't resist his morning lovin'. Maddox is normally too busy to be bothered with snuggling so it's especially cute to see how affectionate he is. He only does it to Kylie and Jayden on a regular basis (although this morning he was much more interested in ripping all the curlers out of Kylie's hair so we only got one picture), occasionally to Jason and I still have yet to get a slobbery open mouthed kiss from him. I'm a tad bit jealous. I think this is my favorite time of day.

Signs

Eating "Wacky Pack Wednesdays" at Sonic with the back popped open (yes, white trash is the new cool).....
Driving with the windows down, music up and killer dance moves....
Playing outside beyond four walls and air conditioning....

This can mean only one thing.....it finally got below 100 degrees for the first time in like 90 days. Bring it on.

Eleven Months
Oh my little man. I am so in love with this age. Even though he does get into everything now that he crawls, I love that he is so content just roaming around the house finding things to entertain himself. My other kids had to always be in the same room as me and were constantly crawling right under my feet and pulling on my leg to be held, but this little guy is different. He ventures all around on his own (it is nice having older kids because they are much more entertaining to follow than me. I especially love when Kylie takes him up to her room to play for hours). Although he does have certain terms and conditions that I must follow. He can come and go as he pleases but I'm not allowed to leave the room without his consent. He loves crawling up the stairs but once he gets up there he stands at the rail yelling at us to come take him back down, then inevitably he crawls right back up and the fun never ends. He can hear the fridge or dishwasher open a mile away and is there in a matter of seconds to see what damage he can do. He hates the car and screams as soon as I open the door. He hates getting his diaper changed and I'm constantly chasing after his poopy little bum as he crawls away faster than I can clean him. He loves yarn (he takes after his mom) and has to hold it all throughout the store. If I try to take it away or put it back he throws the mother of all tantrums but quits as soon as I give it back to him. I'm constantly apologizing to the cashiers when they have to ring up slobbery yarn. If you tell him to do "soft" then he'll rub his chubby little fingers on your cheek. He does his "Chinese eyes" and squints his face all up. Oh he's a keeper, those chubby cheeks, slobbery chin, little pouty lips and the cutest belly laughs....definately a keeper.

Soccer mom and proud of it

I know people always complain about how stressful it is being a "soccer mom" with schedules filled with practices and games, but honestly I kinda like it. Yes it can be a little hectic getting homework and dinner done before practice at 5:00, but I love the extra motivation to get out of the house and let the kids run around at the park and I prefer a busy schedule over being cooped up in the house with everyone getting on eachothers nerves. I also love watching their games and never realized how proud and excited I could get everytime they even touch the ball. This is the first season that we've done soccer and so far it has been a hit (they were also excited that they both happened to get #5). Jayden scored a goal at his first game and two goals at his second game. Kylie is doing awesome too and I'm glad to see that she gets right in there and isn't timid around the ball. Her first game was at noon when it was over 100 degrees outside. I guess I couldn't complain too much about having to sit in the heat since I wasn't the one running around in it. They've both had a great start and we're proud of our cute little soccer players!

A give away..........

So most of you know that I've been a little obsessed with my sewing and crocheting hobby. With obsessed I mean crocheting at the pool, during soccer practice, in the carpool line, during movies, on the airplane (which I think may have emberassed Jason :). I have even been tempted on more than one occasion to join the crocheting club at the local library. Oh the lows I've reached on my route to nerdyness. Now that I've exposed my vulnerable geekyness to you all, you'll have to check out my website www.paisleypinkboutique.blogspot.com where I'm having a little give away, or a bribery of sorts. For those of you in the area you'll have to come check out the upcoming "Shop Chic Boutique" and "Sugar Plums Boutique" as I make an effort to pay off my fabric debt to Jason :). Oh and yesterday Designer Blvd. bought some of my stuff to sell, yay! My first sale....

P.S. I've got adult sizes now too...
I'm getting old

It's not just the smile wrinkles I'm starting to see by my eyes, it's not just that after years of running my knees ache every time I stand up and it's not even the fact that my equilibrium is so out of whack that I get dizzy on the merry go round...no, the real sign that I'm getting old is the fact that the day I said good-bye to these:
and hello to these:

Was more exciting than Christmas. I never thought I would actually look forward to laundry day. Now I'm dreaming of Dysons....

B.Y.who??

Yeah, if you didn't know who we were before, you do now. How often does a 20th ranked team beat a 3rd ranked team? (apparently about every 20 years because that's the last time BYU had an upset this big). I think it was the happiest day of Jason's life (right up there with our wedding day and birth of our children) to actually be at the game. I think he may have even shed a tear. Even though I didn't go to the game, it was definately a happy day for me too because I got to hang out with my favoritest older sister, Janessa. They just moved to Texas where her husband got a job as an accounting professor at TCU (he just graduated with his Phd from the University of Iowa, pretty amazing), so it didn't take much convincing to get Jason down there to visit them the weekend of BYU's opening game with Oklahoma at the new Dallas cowboy's stadium. My sister and I have always been so close. When we were young we had to cross a two lane road while walking to school and every time before we would cross we would hold hands and say, "if you die then I'll die too" (sorry, Janess, I had to steal your story because it's such a classic :). Every night before we would go to bed we would say, "sorry for being mean today, do you forgive me?" As we got older we would sometimes fight over clothes, music or pop tarts, but we were always the best of friends. It's so hard living so far away from her so I always look forward to every chance I get to be with her. We got there Friday afternoon and loved spending time with her adorable kids (especially little Conner that I got to see for the first time. Serious cuteness with facial expressions to die for.) in her beautiful new home. That night we went out on the town where we ate dinner at the "Fuzzy Taco" which thankfully the food was much better than the name. It had a "Wahoo's" kind of feel to it, so I was happy. Then we walked around the TCU campus where Ricky gave us an insider's tour. It was such a beautiful night and so nice just walking around together and hanging out. We started Saturday off with a walk around her beautiful neighborhood (where I was scoping out dream houses where I could someday live by her), a delicious breakfast then a girls' shopping and lunch day. We had strict instructions to be back by 3:00 so that the boys wouldn't miss a single minute of the game. Obviously they had an incredible time at the game. They came back in the best mood (it made us wish we had spent more money on our shopping trip earlier :) and Jason has been on a BYU high ever since. When they got back they had to watch the whole thing on the internet again and Jason's also watched it several times on our DVR since we've been home (which I am forbidden to ever delete). I'm so glad he got the chance to go. Janessa and I opted to stay home with the kids (mostly because we thought BYU would get killed. O ye of little faith). We had a fun pizza and movie party with the kids, watched chic flicks, did craft projects and just had fun hanging out talking. We were sad to be heading home the next day, but were excited to get back to the kids. The Martinez's were so nice to watch our kids all weekend. We watched their kids for one night a couple of weeks ago and my kids were in heaven. (It was funny because I took them all out to get pizza and a movie and while we were walking Kylie told Mia, "let's pretend like we're sisters, because you know, Chinese and Mexican are pretty much the same thing". It's funny because she's not even Mexican, she's like one-fourth Cuban). Thanks Matt and Julie and thanks so much Janessa and Ricky for an awesome weekend!!! We loved every minute of it and can't wait to see you guys next summer! Go Cougs!

{so emberassed}

So the bug guy came today, helping himself around the entire house to spray for these annoying ants. After he left I went upstairs to get Maddox and what do I see lying there smack dab in the middle of the stairs:

Why couldn't it have been a shirt that dropped out of the dirty clothes basket when I brought it downstairs? Why did it have to be my underwear? Why did it have to be a thong? Why did it have to be leopard print for heaven's sake??? (I swear I only wore it running this morning because it was laundry day and that's all I had left, nothing kinky). It didn't help that yesterday was cleaning day and this was the only solitary thing left on the ground in the entire house. Clearly it looks like I planted it there just for him to see. Clearly I can never call him again. Does anyone know a good bug guy?
