DIY project idea
I love doing projects and I've been itching for one lately. I really want to tackle the toy room and do something fun with it, but this was enough to tide me over until then. I got the idea here, but did it for like one tenth of the cost. I love getting new ideas, so I thought I'd pass this along. For the shadows I should have taken a profile picture, blown it up then cut it out and traced it on the black paper. But I'm not that patient. I wanted to get it down right then so I went in a dark room with a lamp, taped a piece of paper on the wall and traced their shadow. It was much trickier (especially with Mads) and I still want to re-do Kylie's because I don't think it looks like her. I got a 12x1x48 board at Lowe's ($5.88) that they cut into 12 inch squares for me, painted the sides, mode podged on the scrapbook paper, white cardstock center and the silhouette then finished it off by hot glueing ric rac around the border. Easy enough and it cost like $10 for all of them, love it!

Wow - that looks really great! Keep up the projects so I can copy you.
Thanks for the idea! I'm going to do this! I'll make sure it is copywrited to you though ;).

I'm so glad you posted pictures. They turned out so great!!! I'm very impressed that you were able to just tracs Maddox's shadow. You're fast. I love Jayden's spikey hair even. When life settles down a little I'm definitely going to copy you on this one. Maybe you can help me with them when you (hopefully) visit.
These are so cute!! I so wish I was a project doer, I am a starter and never finisher....I have a whole closet full of half finished projects!! I love the paper you used!!
I have been wanting to do silhouettes of the kids to put in our dining room for so long! I even emailed Stephanie Nielson (before her crash) to see if she would do them for me. Now I can do them myself! Thanks Jame!
Those are so SWEET! I love them! You did such an amazing job! Oh, and I loved the idea of bringing the "mean girl" cookies! I will definitely be taking your advise the next time we run into that situation! You are such a great mom!
I totally copied you. I even used the same paper and everything! :) Thanks for inspiring me. Never ever say you aren't talented because you SO are.
They look great!
Awesome Jamie. I've been wanting to do silhouettes too, but never have. What an inspiration you are!
I'm totally copying this idea. My MIL already did the sillhouette's, but this makes them so much cuter!
It looks great! And I am all about easy.....I am in need of artwork for a few rooms here in the house. Will have to give it a go!
I'm catching up on your blog again. So happy for you that you didn't spend $70 on Etsy for them. Holy cow they are cute but I almost choked when I saw how much she was selling them for. DIY all the way girlie!
