Girl's Cruise part 2

There was a fancy dinner one night, we all got dressed up. Catherine got the award for the most bling with her disco ball shirt. I got the award for the most uncomfortable shoes and walked most of the night barefoot. #athletesfoot #footfungus

The whole dining room had a spontaneous dance party, these waiters sure made it such a fun experience every night.

We went to a comedy club afterwards and we were dying when the comedian called out the girls from the audience and discovered that Jayci was their aunt. It always makes for a good party trick.

And the laughs just kept coming when Catherine and I bonded over our short thin hair woes. When you walk through a door and the slight breeze makes it appear that you're in a wind storm. And to make matters worse you have to apply almost an entire can of hairspray to hold said thin hair in place so when the wind does pick it up instead of blowing in strands, it blows as one unit.

See exhibit A that Janessa innocently captured. We died laughing when we were going through her pictures and discovered "the unit" in it's natural state.

Our second port was Ensanada Mexico. We were really looking forward to laying out and eating mangos on a stick on a beautiful Mexican beach. We pulled up and saw this. Not really what we were envisioning.

We were told that there was about a 20 minute walk to the beach so we thought we would give it a try. First though, how cute is the birthday girl?? Plus, this is the first time I've seen her in a swimsuit AND sandals in my entire life, so it must be documented.

We walked the dirty streets and even though there was nothing serene or picturesque about it, we still managed to take an unhealthy amount of photos. These girls are such good sports.

It took us about 30 minutes to walk three blocks, thanks to the paparazzi, and were then told that the beach was still like 12 blocks away. We opted for ice cream and to head back to the ship instead. I had to laugh at the insane amount of pictures and videos we took in this shop, you would think it was their first taste of ice cream. At one point the owner took out his phone and took a video of us. I'm sure you can find it on youtube if you search "dumb American tourists".

We got back to the port and the girls and Janessa hadn't quite got their Mexico fill yet and decided to take a taxi into town. I wasn't in the mood for haggling street vendors over junk and Mexico always makes me a little uneasy. I knew Kylie would be in safe hands with Janessa, she is from El Paso after all, so they headed off while the rest of us read books by the pool and ate 3 different lunches.  I wasn't too sad to miss out, until they came back and told us about the best day they had. They ended up finding the beach and even ate those mangos on a stick that Kylie had been dreaming about. So glad they ended up having an authentic (and safe) Mexican experience, and I wish I would have joined them!

The first day we were so nervous to have the girls leave our site on the ship. We set up this texting app through the ship and had tabs on them at all times. After the second day they just ran loose and had the best time. They spent a lot of time at the teen club, and the burger joint. This night I was heading off to bed and they were heading out for the night, in their matching t-shirts and Kylie's famous faux glasses. Funny girls.

We had a day at sea and I wasn't mad about it. It meant those amazing french fries for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  And relaxing all day long.

That night was "lit", as the young kids say these days. There is something about being with the girls that makes you lose all inhibitions and everything seems so much funnier than it actually is. I have seriously not laughed that hard in a long time. But first a beautiful serene sunset....

And then came the party and the laughs....

first at dinner with those glasses and that hair tho....

And then we decided to pose for one of their pictures and it was the most entertainment we had the entire week. We were dying laughing over the crazy poses he was putting us in.

And this is where I birth both of the girls...

And then came the "Queen J" pose....

And then we made this cruise ship musician's night when we gave him the star treatment. Kylie taking front row to her own personal Justin Bieber serenade then all of us waving our cell phone lights and singing along to "Don't Stop Believing".

We nominated Kylie and Jayci to be a part of that night's performance, but then discovered they had to be 18 so Janessa took their place and shook her booty on stage. Love how she really let go of ALL inhibitions, she's awesome!

Then came the after party, with lots of dancing and lots of mardi gras beads.

We surprised my mom and decorated her room that night. So grateful for all these beautiful faces and the unforgettable memories made this week. Thanks for turning 60 and giving us an excuse to party with you! Can't wait to party with these spring chickens again!

PS- had to laugh at this photo Janessa captured the minute we got off the ship and had cell service again. And also props to Jason for holding down the fort the entire week, having all the kids in school made it a lot easier to sneak off, but they had a great time. And also thank you to Southwest for providing Kylie with her tomato juice fix, it's very entertaining to see her get so excited over a can of tomato juice.
