That's what I get

I admit it.  I was a bit cocky when it came to potty training.  Kylie and Jayden were both so easy and of course I gave myself all the credit.  A couple months after they turned two, I took them to the store to pick out their favorite princess and Thomas undies, picked up a bag of their favorite candy and plenty of juice to keep their bladders nice and full. For about three days I would let them down a whole sippy cup of juice then put them on the toilet a half hour later, read them stories give them treats and wah-lah--potty training for dummies.  I just read back in my blog book about Jayden, I started on a Tuesday and by Friday he was completely out of diapers and had only had one accident.  I always assumed it was the parents who were failing if their child refused to potty train.  And of course it's only natural to assume that my potty training prowess would transfer onto my third child, but that is definately not the case.  The last couple of days I've had him parked in front of the tv on his little potty (thanks for the idea, Nicole :) loaded with snacks, his snuggles and Little Einsteins.  No matter how long he sits on that potty without any success, the second I put that diaper on him he pees in it.  My ego has been bruised and I am ready to hang up his undies and call it quits for atleast the next 6 months.

Cute picture! I am always shocked to discover, or maybe I should say re-discover, how much "good parenting" is not really because of anything I do. It sure is nice when our kids make us look good though. I am so not looking forward to potty training Connor. Only one more after that though!

oh man. glad to know you thought it was me and not kosty, haha. brayden was super easy and learned SO fast. kosty is still learning at 5 years old...we've all heard it a million times, 'every kid is different'! i hate hearing that sometimes but it is true. Maddox is still super young, no worries!

Don't be too hard on yourself! Brooke will be 3 in a couple months and Maddox is a lot younger. Just take a break and start over later. I had to do that with Peyton and the second time worked great. Don't you hate potty training? I try to drag out starting as long as possible because I seriously dread it.

I despise potty training. Chris Posvar is an excellent assistant.. actually I think she deserves more credit than I do for potty training Jax while she watches him. I'm too lazy.

Your first mistake was using any idea you got from me...Let's just try again when they turn three, agreed?

you know I had that same thought with Madison being such an easy bab/kid. But I sure ate my humble pie when Beckham came along.
He will get it, eventually... right?

Tyler was my hardest, I was pregnant and sick and lazy with him. Then I got in the bad habit of him being "kind of potty trained" and I would let him wear pull ups too often even though I knew he could be better, it was just hard to deal with when I am pregnant. Trevor was perfectly potty trained at 26 months, I am definitely lazier the more kids I have :)

Sorry Jamie!!!! It's soooo tough! Tyler was a NIGHTMARE to potty train!

Oh I can't believe how flexible Kylie is!!! I WISH I was built like that. I'm the LEAST flexible person in the world and I'm always so jealous of those gymnasts. So great! :)

It happens to the best of us :) I thought I was a fantastic mother to get Logan sleeping through the night at 3 months. Then came Hayden ... still didn't sleep through the night at 1 year old. I thought I knew how to potty train without having accidents afterward ... enter boy #3 who took forever, and still had accidents for months. If it helps, it's very rare for a boy to potty train before the age of 3. My pediatrician said it's something like 10% of boys that potty train before that. Good luck :)
